E-klub was established as the first university club in the Middle-Eastern European region in 1968. It was located in the "E" building of the Polytehnic University. The club has been host to the most popular DJs, bands, and performers from the "Beat-age" until now. E-klub quickly became one of the most popular places in Budapest to be not only amongst musicians, but also sportmen and intellectuals.
At the beginning of the 1990's, the president of the university decided that the club should move out of the "E" building in university campus to Népliget, where it can be found now. There is something good in every bad, as the saying goes, because the new building has proved to be a much better place to function as a night club. It has a great lay-out, and the perfect location in the middle of a huge park, therefore it has a unique spirit, which is always a pleasant surprise for first-timers.
Back in the 70-80's, the place was mentioned as the hottest "Rock-Club" in Budapest, but after a few years things started to change. As well as rock bands, the club was hosting different special programmes, such as exhibitions, Tattoo Expo, Winter Motorsport Meeting, Festivals, Talent Spotter Competitions, and Musical Instrument Exhibitions. Foreign bands, such as Chumbawamba, Kip Winger, H-Blokcx, Savatage, Moonspell, Gathering, GBH, New Model Army, Iron Maiden, Hammerfall, Psychotic Waltz also performed in the club.
In 1998 the club went through a major change. It was renovated, the interior design changed and with it changed the music style, as well; from rock style to disco style. The club was changed to meet needs for better entertainment both in design and music alike. Three bars, a greek fast food buffet, and a huge garden area helped to achieve this. The parties on Fridays and Saturdays, and the Foam Party, taking place every Tuesday during the summer, have attracted a huge crowd.
The present In 2005, the club was fully refurbished once again. It was well-needed after seven years continuous full house parties. E-klub is now one of the coolest and trendiest clubs in town. There are four bars, a special mixer bar, a VIP garden section, two dance floors with different kinds of music, a huge stage and a pizza corner where you can get freshly baked pizza all night long. The sound and the light systems were also updated to the latest version, not to mention the fou plazma TV screens above the stage. Extreme dancers, various special games and events, free internet access all night, and ever-changing drink promotions are awaiting the guests. To top it all, there is always live internet broadcast in the club, which is unique in Hungary.
On Fridays DJ. SPIGIBOY does the honours of the Dancemix Party and on every Saturday DJ. BALAGE provides the greatest hits for the Dance4U Teenager Party from 5pm until 10pm. Every Saturday night, taking turns every week, the best DJs, like Spy The Ghost, Dance 4 Ever, and Dj.Dred. are giving you the hottest mix in the bigger dance room. In the summer Foam parties take place every Tuesday, where the host is DJ SPIGIBOY and other star DJs are playing, as well. In the smaller dance room you can enjoy the 80-90s music and the Hungarian hits with DJ Paplan on Fridays and with DJ. Öcsi on Saturday nights. Come and check it out for yourself. Have fun!
